Round 2 - Marion v Flagstaff Hill at Flagstaff Hill 

Marion went up the hill for round 2 to face Flagstaff Hill. The weather was wet and windy as usual at Flagstaff Hill.

 The B-Grade came up against a very good Flagstaff Hill side and went down 30.22.202 to 1.4.10.

The best players were Tristan Colmer, Jay Byrne and James Markham. Tristan Colmer was the goalkicker with a great shot from outside 50. 

The A-grade were competive with a strong Flagstaff Hill side however lapses in concentration cost Marion goals.

The final score of 21.20.146 to 4.2.26 was a good effort against a side which will challenge for the top 4 this year.

The best for Marion were Aaron Robertson, Joel Williams and Matt Linke. Joel Williams kicked two goals and Aaron Parry and Blake Brooke kicked one each.

Marion blooded two new recruits in the a-grade in Joel Williams and Aaron Parry who both showed they will be an asset for Marion in 2011.

Round 3 - Marion v Lonsdale at Marion 

Round 3 saw Marion play it's first home game of the season with a night match against Lonsdale.

The B-grade were in the match all night however just fell short in a fantastic performance. The final score was Marion 3.8.26 to 6.10.46. Best players for Marion were Trent Morey who backed up and played A-grade, Fabian King and Mason Hotstone who also backed up and played A-grade. Special mention goes to Jarrad Shepard who kicked his 2nd ever goal which was an absolute cracker.

The A-grade missing several key players due to unavailability and injury were up against the odds with 5 players backing up after the B-grade game. The Rams fought it out but a poor second quarter spoiled the eariler good work in what was a disapointing performance. 

The final score was Lonsdale 23.12.150 to Marion 1.5.11.

The best for Marion were Aaron Robertson and Joel Williams who worked tirelessly all day on the ball. Aaron Dereuver in his first game as skipper filling in for the injured Matt Linke stood firm at centre half back while Russell Stanborough, Stuart Griffin and Matt Francisco played solid games. Special mention goes to Josh Francisco who did a fantastic job when switched onto the dangerous Rigney in the second half.

The Rams look forward to the return of some key players in a fortnight against Edwardstown and an improved showing.

The Marion Football Club is still looking for players, with excellent facilities, new best player awards and no fees for season 2011 the Rams offer a great opportunity for players of all levels of ability.

A-grade coach Stephen KEAM will coach the under 16 this season.

Stephen Keam - new Coach for Marion

Marion Football club would like to announce Mr Stephen Keam as the 2011 season coach, Stephen brings with him 19 years of coaching experience both as a playing and non playing coach.  Stephen has been involved with teams in the S.A.N.F.L, the SFL and S.A.F.A.  We believe that Stephen will be able to assist us with the future of our club.  All players will be invited to a meeting with Stephen and will be advised via their mobiles,please contact the secretary of the club ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
